Supervisory Engineering Equipment Operator

This position serves as a Supervisory Engineering Equipment Operator within the West Desert District. The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision and direction to Federal Wage System employees, operate a variety of gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction heavy equipment in all terrain environments to include mountainous, remote, and steep slope environments characterized by graded curves and shoulders, rocky or soft ground, hilly forests, etc. The incumbent may also operate other types of motor vehicles and be responsible for maintaining assigned equipment. Typical projects and/or duties may include, but are not limited to:
Collaborates with supervisors/employees to plan and schedule work by setting priorities, and development of schedules for completion of work. Monitors work to ensure that the members complete their tasks effectively and efficiently. Responsible for administration of a variety of management programs such as safety, upward mobility, cost reduction, sick leave, EEO, drug free workplace, over time usage, suggestions, etc. Performs personnel management functions such as making selection of employees; participating in positions and pay management program; establishing performance standards and evaluating performance; identifying developmental and training needs of employees; providing and making provisions for training. Uses heavy equipment, perform construction and maintenance activities for roads, campgrounds, underground utilities, site grading, septic systems and range improvement projects. In addition to equipment operation, construct and maintain various improvement projects on public lands that may involve carpentry, concrete work, plumbing, electrical, welding and similar skills. Performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, filter changes, and similar without supervision to keep equipment in good working order; makes minor repairs on heavy equipment. Makes arrangements to have periodic maintenance and repair work done to heavy equipment as required Physical Demands:
Heavy physical effort is required in constantly climbing in and out of different machines, and pushing and pulling levers continuously while machine is in operation. Work is strenuous because of the large equipment operated, the adjustments made, and the adverse operating conditions. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. The incumbent is required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and often puts forth similar effort when pushing, pulling, turning and positioning parts, assemblies, equipment and tools.Work Environment:
The operation of large and complicated gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction equipment in difficult circumstances increases exposure and risk of injury. The incumbent works both inside and outside and is exposed to hot and humid weather and/or extremely cold weather with temperatures ranging from below 0 to above 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Ice, road oils, and other items such as loose gravel and rocks may create hazardous conditions. The operator is subjected to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, oils, solvents, and fumes from motors and exhausts. When working inside, the incumbent must ensure proper ventilation to minimize fumes caused by equipment or vehicles. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, abrasions, bruises and strains while servicing and operating equipment. There is no specific length of training or experience required, however, the applicant must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in the resume materials, that they possess the skill level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
